Dr. Hossein Ansari, MD earned his medical degree from Iran, after which he completed his Neurology residency training at West Virginia University where he also served as Chief Resident.
He did his Fellowship in Headache and Facial Pain at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, and upon completion of fellowship training, acquired Board Certification in Headache Medicine by United Council of Neurological Subspecialties.
In June, 2015, Dr. Ansari joined University of California in San Diego (UCSD) in order to spearhead the development of the University’s Headache Center. He is currently associate professor at department of neuroscience and serves as a director of the headache and facial pain clinic at UCSD.
Prior to joining the UCSD, Dr. Ansari established a multidisciplinary headache center in Akron, Ohio, where he served as its Director, providing care to thousands of patients with headache and facial pain. In addition to running the headache center, he was an Assistant Professor at Northeast Ohio Medical University and Attending Neurologist at Summa Health System hospitals in Summit County, Ohio.
Dr. Ansari is actively involved in multiple domestic and international professional societies and serves as an advisory council member for the International Headache Society. He has also fellow of both American academy of Neurology (FAAN) and American headache society (FAHS).
He had multiple presentations at annual national and international conferences. He organizes headache conference biannually, under the auspices of International headache society, in Iran where prestigious speakers from all over the world attend the conference.
In addition to being an experienced clinician, Dr. Ansari has authored book chapters and Publications in Headache diagnosis and management. His also actively involved with the American Academy of Neurology in the neuro self-assessment exam (NeuroSAE) as the team of question authors.
Dr. Ansari’s specials interests are :
- Headache (chronic migraine management with emphasis on procedural treatment) , Facial pain and trigeminal related pain, specifically Autoimmune Trigeminal Neuropathy
- Cluster headaches and other Trigeminal Autonomic Cephalalgia syndrome
- Neurological manifestation of systemic diseases with focus on Neuro-rheumatology
- Pharmacokinetics of Headache/Pain medication and their side effects /drug interaction
- Management of intractable headache in emergency room or outpatient infusion suite
- Headache related to nose and paranasal sinuses disorder
