Dr. Schuster is assistant professor of anesthesiology and associate clinic director at the Center for Pain Medicine at UC San Diego, where he practices pain medicine with a special interest in headache. He is board-certified in neurology, pain medicine, and headache medicine. He graduated from the University of Michigan Medical School, and completed neurology residency at Ronald Reagan-UCLA Medical Center, headache and facial pain fellowship at Montefiore Headache Center in the Bronx, NY, and pain medicine fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA. e is the section editor of the Teaching Images section in the journal Pain Medicine and holds appointed positions on several national and international committees and workgroups. His research interests are in clinical trial design, biomarkers, and precision medicine, with current ongoing projects including performing the first randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial of vaporized cannabis for acute migraine and studying biomarkers in headache disorders, trigeminal neuralgia, multiple sclerosis, and lumbosacral radicular pain.
